Everyone looked super smart last Saturday at the prestigious gala night held in Novotel Yangon Max, eagerly waiting to find out which company is the best to work for in Myanmar.

It was the Myanmar Employer Awards, attended by over 500 of the nation’s top CEOs, MDs and HR leaders. The gala ball aimed to recognise employer excellence in the country and raise standards to support a growing domestic economy.

In October, 2019, the MEA committee announced the names of the finalist companies for their outstanding achievements. An independent panel of judges selected the MEA finalists based on the applicants’ commitment to business objectives, innovation and creativity in HR practices.

The main sponsors were JobNet.com.mm and Yoma Bank. Other major sponsors of the event included The British School Yangon, Marga Group, SembCorp and Global Net.

A number of VIP guests attended the event, from DICA officials to CEOs, government ministers and company employees. The list included Moe Moe Su Kyi Minister of Immigration and Human Resources, Zaw Aye Maung Minister of Rakhine National Affairs and Daw Tin Aye Han, Deputy Director General of DICA.

The MEA event sought to recognise employer excellence, crowning over fifty winners across an array of HR categories for companies who have dedicated themselves in the past year to best practices.
