Myanmar badminton icon Thet Htar Thuzar is currently taking part in the Asia Olympic Project, which is being held in Cyberjaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The project is being supervised by the Badminton Project as a year-end regional training programme.

Twenty players from Iran, Lebanon, Maldives, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Jordan, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are participating in the training session.

Thet Htar Thuzar has been chosen for seven days of physical, on-court, technical, and tactical training, and physiotherapy with physicians, trainers, and experts. The training is aimed at making players physically fit ahead of international competitions.

During the Asia Olympic Project week in Malaysia, all 20 badminton players will get sparring partners from Malaysia and Indonesia to play with and gauge their level of play, according to Badminton Asia Development.

Along with Thet Htar Thuzar, two more Myanmar players — Khaing Thinzar and Zaw Lin Htoo — are taking part in the training session. They left from Yangon International Airport on 15 December for the training programme in Kuala Lumpur.

Thet Htar Thuzar and her team will be back home before 25 December for a national badminton tournament, according to Thet Htar Thuzar’s official social media page.
